Scott Dancer of DC Dog Wizard is amazing with dogs, and patient with humans, which is a plus in my book. Our young male rescue, Hobie, needed to focus his energy and after just a few minutes working with Scott things started clicking for him. We’re on the “freedom plan” with DC Dog Wizard so I really appreciate that I can call on DC Dog Wizard as needed for “brush-ups” for Hobie, and when I need coaching about certain situations, as I did recently. Scott is dependable, very knowledgeable, and gifted as a dog trainer. Hobie is a joy, thanks to the confidence both he and I gained working with Scott (and Rex!)

Jennifer Chandler Hauge,

Scott Dancer, DC Dog Wizard worked wonders with my pup Juno. She had some major fear anxiety and behavioral issues including dog aggression. While things are still a work in progress, Scott has taught Juno how to be a much more confident and happy dog! We are still working with her using a muzzle on interacting with other dogs but just going for a walk now is a much more pleasant experience for everyone involved. The best part about working with Scott is that he continues to advise and work with you after he works with your dog. You can really tell that he bonds with your dog during training and cares about teaching you how to continue where he leaves off. I would happily recommend him to anyone who needs help with training their dog!

Carolina,

I have an eight year old Austrailian Cattle Dog that is very, very dog aggresive. This was a huge problem becasue I was going to be combining households with my signifigant others dog, an 8 pound Morkie (Maltese / Yorkie Mix). I attempted to socialize them together a few times with very little success. Normally once dogs work out the hiearchy, they will usually be fine, however the Morkie was so small that this process could severly injure, or even kill him. I contacted Scott and after an intial evaluation, he determined that we should board my dog with Scott’s “Pack” for intense training and socailization. Scott picked him up, he was going to be staying with him for two weeks. I was extremly nervous that my dog might injure Scott, or one of the other dogs but Scott is a professional so this would never happen in my opinion. I went on vacation while he was boarded, but checked Facebook upon arriving in Mexico. I was shocked to see pictures of my dog taking treats from Strangers and running with other dogs. It was a slow process, he was muzzled most of the time, but still major progress for him. I later saw pictures of him in parks, in Pet Smart, and doing various training exercises muzzled and un-muzzled. The pictures and the videos really helped me to feel connected to the process. Scott brought him back to me with an explanation on how to use the training collar, and some basic instruction on how to continue the training. He also returned when we needed additional instruction on how to socialize the two dogs together, and after walking them together for a few weeks, and keeping the little dog for five consecutive days, they were fine together. There is still the occasional push or snip (on both sides), but It gets better every day. They actually snuggle together now which I never thought would be possible. I highly recommend Scott and his services. He really cares for the dogs, and his a keen insight on the way they think.

Marcus Mills,

Our German Shepherd, Kodiak, went through The Dog Wizard’s puppy preschool and training programs in order to establish a language where we could better communicate with him, as well as to figure out what makes him tick so we can work his brain. As a high energy dog, Kodiak needs the mental stimulation and that’s just what Scott has provided him. He loves when we go out of town because he knows he gets to go stay with Scott and work and play until he’s dead tired, just to get up the next morning and repeat it. He always comes home happy, exhausted, and with a sense of confidence that makes that consistent training so much easier – a lot less frustrating to work with a dog who is eager to learn! Scott and The Dog Wizard are absolutely awesome, and we’d recommend them time and time again; and I know Kodiak would, too!
